Tamil Nadu calls meet on reopening of schools on November 9

CHENNAI: After opposition from rival parties and allies over reopening of schools and colleges from November 16, TN on Wednesday announced a consultative meeting of school heads and parents of government, aided and private schools on November 9.

An official release from the school education secretary Dheeraj Kumar said the meeting would take place at 10am adhering to Covid protocols. “The parents of students of classes 9, 10, 11 and 12 shall participate and express their views. Those, who are unable to attend, shall send their views through letters. Based on the outcome of this meeting, the government will decide on reopening those schools,” the officer said. Chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Saturday announced reopening of schools for classes 9, 10, 11 and 12, colleges and all education institutions from November 16. The guidelines issued on September 30 permitted the reopening of schools after October 15 in a graded manner. examinations,” the officer said.
